[Jennifer] How ya doin Dave?
[Dave] Nice to see ya...I'm doin
alright. Tell us a little bit about yourself...about your
day, about where you're
from...what you're doin...stuff like that. you know, just
like an ice-breaker.
[Jennifer] (clears throat) Ok, uh, let's
begin...My day. I started at California this morning at
4...
[Dave] (interrupts) What? You came in
today?
[Jennifer] Yeah...
[Dave] Well you must be exhausted for
heaven sakes.
[Jennifer] No way man, glad to be here. I'm
good... yeah...(pretends to fall asleep)
[Dave] (Ha Ha ha)
[Jennifer] So no, I flew in today and got
here, and got all gussied-up and came to see you.
[Dave] Well I certainly appreciate
that. You look lovely. And...and what I was gonna lead
right into here is I got
a copy of the special double issue of People magazine,
and you're one of the 50 most beautiful people in the
world.
[Jennifer] (squirms in her seat) Yeah,...
[Dave] Congratulations...My god...
[Jennifer] Yeah...
[Dave] That's pretty good.
[Jennifer] Pretty exciting.
[Dave] Here you go. (shows picture)
[Jennifer] Yeah. Yeah.
[Dave] Now, uh, do you get like a
plaque?
[Jennifer] Yeah, I think so... I think I'll
probably just kinda have that made into a statue of some
sort, you
know...
[Dave] Now will you go to some sort of
gathering with the other 49 people?
[Jennifer] I hope so. I can't wait to,
uh...I can't wait to meet them all.
[Dave] And here on the cover...This is
I assume Nicole Kidman...
[Jennifer] (interrupts) She's the MOST
beautiful apparently.
[Dave] But I saw this. Look at that
little caption under her face. Look at that. See that
says..."I've never been
happier." "I'm much happier now" it says
right there. Well doesn't that... Don't you think that
must make Tom
Cruise feel just awful?
(audience laughs)
[Jennifer] (laughs)
[Dave] Don't you think that does...?
[Jennifer] Poor Tom.
[Dave] And...and why would she rub it
in like that for God's sake? He's probably not on the
list. Is he?
[Paul
Shafer] (Laughs)
[Dave] Ummm, Tell us about the show.
This is probably very exciting isn't it?
[Jennifer] The shows been, yeah. The show
is very cool. It is, um, gosh. The show is about a girl
who's a
double agent. And...
[Dave] Just like a college girl right?
A student. A college student?
[Jennifer] She's a grad student.
[Dave] A grad student, right.
[Jennifer] But...yeah. She pretends like
she's a grad student...She is a grad student. But she
also is a double
agent.
[Dave] Mmm hmm.
[Jennifer] And there are good guys and
there are bad guys.
[Dave] She knows she's a double agent
right?
[Jennifer]
She knows she's a
double agent.
[Dave] Ok...alright. Ok, Because it can
be confusing. She might not know who's good and who's
bad.
(audience laughs)
[Jennifer] Ok... Dave stay with me. It's
good. We got it... So...
(audience laughs and
applauds)
[Jennifer] There are good guys and there
are bad guys. And she pretends to be a bad guy but really
she's a
good guy.
[Dave] Ohhh. And her father...??
[Jennifer] It's complicated because her
father is doing the same thing that she's doing. He's
also a double
agent. And her, umm, her handler for the CIA is
this...(grins at Dave) ...Good. you're paying attention.
[Dave] I certainly am. Paying wrapped
attention.
(audience laughs)
[Jennifer] ...is this very handsome actor
named Michael Vartan, who she has feelings for but she
can never do
anything about them because nobody can know that she's a
double agent. I always get in too deep with this.
[Dave] But now... wasn't somebody...a
romantic ...didn't he get rubbed out because he...because
you spilled
you're guts?
[Jennifer] Yeah, (laughs) She's kind of a
praying mantis. I mean, you don't wanna date this
chic...It's bad
news. Yeah. She tends to have the men...she either kills
them or they get killed. Kinda keep your distance.
[Dave] Now,...because of the uh kinda
of nature of the show...Does that extend to the uh,
production of the
show itself? Do they try to keep it? Is it all secretive
and very hush-hush?
[Jennifer] Yes! It's very...It's all very
secretive, partially because they're constantly coming up
with new ideas
as they go along. So they work very hard to, umm, keep
the details of whatever's happening or whatever is
about to happen from the actors.
[Dave] Do you know what will happen from
show to show?
[Jennifer] No! And it's soooo maddening and
frustrating. And the second the new scripts come out. The
whole
crew, we're all sitting there, you know, reading ,
reading, reading. The whole cast. And if, every now and
then
a writer will get so excited about an upcoming, you know,
detail, or point...plot point that they'll tell one of
the
actors. And then they just kind of hoard that, like this
little bit of gold, and we kind of trade these secrets
back
and forth.
[Dave] Is there any kind of espionage
work you might do yourself to find out?
[Jennifer] Well, certainly. Yeah.
(audience laughs)
[Dave] Would be a good idea. Would be
good practice for them.
[Jennifer] There was actually one mission
that I went on trying to find out. Kind of...what my
story was gonna
be. There's this writer's room that's hidden away behind
doors. And every time you go into the writer's room,
three writers will pop up and stand in front of this huge
bulletin board that has index cards.
[Dave] Oh, they don't want you to see.
[Jennifer]
They don't want you
to see. And they don't tell us they don't want you to
see. They just slyly stand
up and kind of, cover this. And I decided one night. I
finished work at two in the morning. Nobody was around
and I happened to be in the office and I
thought..."The writer's room appears to be
open."
(audience laughs)
[Dave] Soooo?
[Jennifer] Yeah. So, I walked in...(laughs)
and I read every single index card for every single
character for the
whole year. And I just...I read it like this... like...
[Dave] You were able to take it all in?
[Jennifer] I sucked it all up. And I was
about to leave, and I heard a door opening across the
hall. And I
whipped around back against the hall. Back against like,
the wall...and just hid and waited for the person to
start walking...
[Dave] That's a spy move...
(audience laughs)
[Jennifer] (laughs) Yeah. Exactly. And
as...There was one lone writer left in the building, and
as they walked
away I kind of did a triple take and zoomed out the other
way.
[Dave] So you didn't get caught?
[Jennifer] I didn't get caught. but I was
so freaked, that I uh, forgot everything that I read.
[Dave] Well see...that's...you know what
that is? That's NOT mission accomplished.
[Jennifer] No it's not...
[Dave] No.
[Jennifer] I never said I accomplished the
mission... I just said I went on the mission.
[Dave] You know, we've had uh, a lot of
people in that chair and we've been on the air for...and
I don't think
I've ever sat that close to another human being that
smells quite as nice as you smell.
[Jennifer] (sniffing her arm) Really?
(audience laughs)
[Dave] Oh my God! Crazy!
[Jennifer] Really?...Hmmm.
[Dave] Is that like...probably just...
[Jennifer] It just comes from being one of
the...(looks over at the People magazine)
[Dave] I see (laughs)
(audience laughs)
[Jennifer] I woke up this morning. I
smelled better. I looked better. you know what I mean?
[Dave] You won the all factory
category.
(audience laughs)
[Dave] Well that's just great. So I
guess probably you're married and stuff?
[Jennifer]
\n';
document.write(barra);
}
}
changePage();
> I'm married...Yeah.
[Dave] Well that's good.
[Jennifer] I'm married to an actor...Scott
Foley.
[Dave] Now he was on...What show was he
on?
[Jennifer] He was on Felicity. And I
did a guest spot on Felicity four years ago and
that's where we met.
[Dave] Yeah. How's that goin?
[Jennifer]
Uh, It's goin great.
Well Felicitys over...the marriage is goin
great.
(audience laughs)
[Dave] Uh...So what do you do now? Are
you workin now? Are you done with the season of Alias?
Have you got
a cliffhanger? Is that what we uh...
[Jennifer] Ohhhh there's a cliffhanger!
Ohhh yeah. Yeah. The last two episodes are comin up this
Sunday and I
believe next Sunday, and they're both...They are the best
episodes of the whole season.
[Dave] Really?
[Jennifer]
And it's killing me.
I just wanna tell you stuff so badly.
[Dave] Well let's hear a little?
[Jennifer] No. Umm, that's ok. But they
are...they are soooo good. If you've never seen the show
before...this
is the Sunday to tune in. But anyway...and if you
have...you can watch.
[Dave] It's like a double bonus for you
then because you've seen it before and you'll see it
again.
(audience laughs)
[Jennifer] (laughs) Right.
[Dave] I have no idea what I'm talking
about...Well...it's so nice to see...
[Jennifer] Now I'm working on this film,
Daredevil, that I'm doin this summer which is a big ol'
comic book
movie with Ben Affleck and it's soooo...we're just having
a great time.
[Dave] Well that sounds like a lot of
fun.
[Jennifer] Yeah.
[Dave] Good for you... And I hope you
come back and uh...
[Jennifer] I hope so.
[Dave] Cause it's lovely to meet you.
And congratulations on the Alias and the People
magazine and the
everything else. And the outfit. Congratulations on the
outfit.
[Jennifer] (laughs) Thanks...
[Dave] Jennifer Garner everybody!
